There is More in You (1)

“Look inside yourself …, you are more than what you have become”
Mufasa ‘lion king’

That is my best quote in the whole wide world!  It’s from the Walt Disney classic ‘The Lion King’. First let me say, if you haven’t seen the Lion King, your childhood ain’t complete, so once you finish reading this write up, go watch it ASAP. Yea, yea, I know you’ll roll your eyes and say, ‘Kani it’s a cartoon, common’, but truthfully, there’s a world of lessons to pick out from the Classic and one of them is the quote above which I say out loud every morning. You should see me standing there in front of the mirror, staring into the eyes of my reflection with a deadpan mafia boss expression and in King Jaffe Joffer’s (coming to America) voice saying, “look within yourself Kani, you are more than what you have become”. You can say that it’s dramatic, but I always feel a roar come on right after that. You could try it sometime; you’ll see what I mean. But first, today, right now, I’m saying it to you; LOOK WITHIN YOURSELF, THERE IS MORE TO YOU THAN WHAT YOU HAVE BECOME!
Did you feel the roar come on yet or are you too busy wondering how I can make such a definitive statement? Ok fine, maybe you need a little convincing, so I’ve made a couple of irrefutable points below:

  1. Mufasa said it, and the guy sounded exceptionally intelligent and deep don’t you think? Isn’t that enough to believe the guy?

  2. According to a myth, you use about 10 percent of your brain capacity and that’s only if you’re a genius. Well, people like me, considering the way I feel sometimes, probably use about 8 percent or even less. Ok, maybe that’s an exaggeration but the important question is, if this myth were true, ‘what the heck is the other 80+ percent doing dormant?’ Even more interestingly, what can we became or achieve if we could access more of it? I mean, could you imagine it?

  3. Imagine what you could have been by now if only you took advantage of all the opportunities that came calling but you passed off because you were afraid or just ignorant. So much more I tell you.

  4. Remember when you surprised yourself by producing a result you never believed you were even capable of just because you were under a lot pf pressure? So there, you know it already, “It’s in you!”

  5. You’ve been learning from the day you were born and you will continue to learn till the day you die. Of course you can be more, just keep learning.

  6. You are reading this write up, it shows you are desperately searching for more.

I could go on and on. The truth is, there are enormous possibilities within each of us that can propel us to greater heights and we can make more out of them by pushing further. All you have to do is:
  1. Believe there’s more to you than you’re presently experiencing.

  2. Believe there’s something you can do for the greatness that lies on the inside of you to materialize.

  3.  Take an action every day that aims higher, digs deeper, stretches wider, and goes further than where you are presently.
I believe I’ve got you on our side (Simba and I), so join me in the next post where we’ll take a look at some of the ways we can work out Mufasa’s wise advice.

Have a great life y’all.
