‘MOMMA’

The overwhelming pleasure of coming home,
Of soft approaching footfalls hurrying into sight,
Of small red lips curving into a smile revealing amazing white teeth,
Of slender arms flapping in the air, reaching up.

The overwhelming pleasure of holding her in my arms,
Her sweet lavender smell sneaking up your nose,
Her sugary voice sending tingles down my spine

As she sweeps dark long lashes across the eyes and says ‘Momma’.
